It’s amazing how into a sport one can get when their
favorite team is doing well! The entire fall season whizzed by for me,
personally, because my team actually figured out they were at work to play
FOOTBALL and not, oh let’s say, golf. And being a die-hard Vikings fan I can
tell you, more than one season has crawled by because the entire team did not
show up to play- metaphorically speaking, of course.
Oh don’t get me wrong, they were on the field in body those
seasons, but the spirit…the spirit had apparently hit snooze.
Inevitably, in true Vikings form…we lost the playoff game
this year to a missed field goal. And this wasn’t the first time that happened
for us. (#1998 #NeverForget #StillNotOverIt.) Because of that season, “The NFL
Network named the 1998 Minnesota Vikings as the 4th greatest team in
the NFL history to not win the Super Bowl” (Wikipedia.org.) I won’t hash out
any more details of either loss because…it’s still too fresh. But let’s just
say we are holding strong to that NFL Network title.
As anyone who is loyal to the Purple will tell you: it’s
hard to be a Minnesota Vikings fan. We love our team, but we’re accustomed to
disappointment.
I believe the Redskins fans got a taste of that
disappointment this season as well. Welcome.
HOWEVER! Playoff season has happened, and this Sunday we
will watch the AFC Denver Broncos take on the NFC’s Carolina Panthers. Where
will you be watching the big game?
Why, you will be able to watch the big game right here on
JBMHH at Spates Community Club of course! Each year we host this fabulously fun
party, complete with prizes and games, watch the energy, the excitement, and
yes, the eventual tears of the losing team’s fans.
Hey, only one can win. That’s the way it works.
And this is coming from a fan of a team that has LOST four
Super Bowl attempts. Four. Ouch. At least three of the four losses were before
I was born.
So plan NOW! Circle your calendar, mark February 7th
in red, and coordinate your jerseys. Regardless of who you will be cheering
for, we’ll be at Spates to watch the final game of the season. See you there!
