Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy concert tickets. And that's just as good....

Someone once asked me which I would rather lose if I had to choose: my hearing or my sight. Tough question, considering I was much younger when it was posed. But now, at my ripe ol’ age of…yeah, my current age, I can finally answer that.

Without a doubt, if I had to choose between the two, I would rather lose my sight. A life without sound would be no life at all.

And I wouldn’t mind having a seeing-eye dog. As long as the dog doesn’t have a sense of humor like mine and walk me close to traffic to be funny.

Now sure, I would miss colors. I would miss seeing my children’s smiles or seeing a thunderstorm roll over the horizon. But more than that I would miss the sounds of nature, the sounds of my children’s laughter, and the beautiful sound of music.

But the question itself is unorthodox, considering it’s very much like asking someone how they would prefer to die (which, for me, would be at a very old age and in my sleep). It’s a tough one.

I love music. I was a band geek throughout school who played multiple instruments. I asked for a stereo over a television. No matter what I am doing in my life, having music on in the background makes everything better.

As an adult I wholeheartedly enjoy concerts. There are few things more exciting than seeing my favorite bands perform, though if all I could do was hear them then the experience would be just as great. I especially love it when two of my favorites perform on the same ticket. (Which is happening this July! Yay!)

Do you know what is great about living near the nation’s capital? All of the concert venues and performance halls that we have within our reach! Seriously, there are few places which host so much by way of arts and entertainment.

And if you’re interested in going to anything here local, be sure to check for tickets at the JBMHH Community Center by calling 703.696.3470 before you go! Again, we cannot make any promises; but it never hurts to ask, right?
